Way behind...

I have been negligent in my livejournal reading and posting.  It seems like a great many days since I have been here, reading your journals, keeping up with what is happening in people's lives, replying and basically keeping the channels of communication open.  Same applies to e-mail, with messages awaiting response.  This has simply been one of those periods during which the internet simply does not interest me much---despite the fact that it is my main or only means of keeping in touch with a lot of people.  I believe that a great many of you understand that feeling, and have felt it yourselves.  I certainly hope that it is understood that no animus is involved here, no intent to harm, just a general malaise.

My music listening of late has been stuck on the letter C: Calexico, Cash, and The Clash.  Not that I've listened to nothing other than that, but those three have been way up there.

Speaking of music and websites, I am having second thoughts about lala.com.  I happened to be in Landlocked Music this afternoon, and mentioned the site to Jason, and he looked like he wanted to spit.  He mentioned that there is (or was) a lala.com display in the post office downtown (something I intend to investigate tomorrow), which really disgusted him.  His feeling, obviously, is that, as the owner of a small CD/record store, sites like lala.com endanger his future.  Given that I like the guy, and appreciate the service he provides in this community, I feel that I should not actively engage in behavior that makes his position less tenable.

In general, of late, my biggest concern has been this script I've been fitfully working on...  So many images and ideas, but nothing really coming together in any logical manner.  I have some projects planned here in the very near future including a web-based roleplaying game to be used to generate character and story ideas.  We'll see what happens.

My younger sister Christine, her husband Tim, and my two youngest nieces, Elizabeth and Leah, came to visit this past weekend.  All in all, considering how much I was looking forward to it, I was really disappointed with the whole thing.  I really had very little time to spend with them, and it seems like the same routine everytime they come: a movie at the multiplex Saturday afternoon followed by dinner at Friday's or Applebee's.  In other words, nothing that they could not have done back up north.  I keep thinking, next time they come down, I'm going to show them Bloomington, the Bloomington I know and love.  Somehow, that never happens.  The failure, I know, is on my part.

I did see Devin (
utopian_camorra) this past weekend, though, which was great.  I swear that I've seen him more in the last month-and-a-half than I did all of last year.  That is, of course, something of an exaggeration, but, as he can attest, he has been a travellin' man of late.  Not that I'm complaining about seeing him.

I have, for the most part, been feeling pretty good of late.
