Notes from a lazy winter morning...

It may be fantastically sunny with clear blue skies today but it's a nippy one out there (-29 with windchill)
Despite that I'll still prolly venture out to get some errands done later.
And in the world of Indoor Gardening Adventures:

I had planted the Paperwhite bulbs late in December on purpose in order to have them bloom this month.
I like having some "bloomage" during the long winter months. Besides, having them bloom at X-mas is nice & festive but I'm usually too busy to appreciate 'em.

So pretty!

My Amaryllis bulb however did not produce a bloom this time. It doesn't mean that it's a dud however as sometimes Amaryllis bulbs don't have the strength to produce blooms each season. Too bad though, as it's a red & white striped variety that I was looking forward to seeing bloom.
So you'll have to be satisfied with a pic of former Amaryllis blooming glory:

I may pick up some more bulbs (there's always leftover misfit ones at stores after X-mas) though so maybe I can get another Amaryllis to force.

Speaking of having blooms in the winter months, I have to mention that I love having this plant:

Called the Crown of Thorns, it is constantly blooming so there are flowers every day of the year!
Not bad for for a plant I paid $5.99 at a little corner market so many years ago.
And hardy too since his plant has survived a move already.
