I’ve somehow convinced Joe to play Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 with me as of late, which has been pretty interesting. Like the other games in the series it’s already kind of easy, especially with more than one player. It reminds me of when I used to play the Legends games and the first MU:A with Schan, and we had divided out the characters and everything haha…fun times.
So far, Joe is really partial to Juggernaut. He’s a real tank kinda guy, so I’m not terribly surprised. (Ironically, characters like Juggernaut tend to bore me really quickly.) I’m thinking he might enjoy playing Hulk as well, once he’s been unlocked. He recently has taken a shine to Carnage as well, which is cool, since Carnage is a much more complex character to play. For those who haven’t played the game, Carnage works as a major ‘glass canon’ type. He deals ridiculous damage, and really fast (notably with his Symbiotic Surprise ability) and moves really quickly, but his HP and defense are really low, not to mention to use his Symbiotic Surprise he needs to be literally touching the enemy)
It’s a much longer list to say who I like using, so I’ll spare everyone that. Of course, my favorite is Jean, though we have to re-unlock her. I’m also really partial to Invisible Woman. Her awesome TK grabs and stun fields are awesome. Cable is cool, and I enjoy using Storm for her gusty blow away ability. Green Goblin is cool, when unlocked…yeah, so I basically like using everyone.
Psylocke seems so weak though. Her attacks are kinda meh, and her defense is kind meh…she reminds me of Izayoi from The After Years ahaha. But I think she’s kind of a “magikarp” type who grows much stronger later on. Magneto is the same way.
I do miss some of the old characters though. Dr. Strange was one of my favorites to use in the last game, and the lack of Spider-woman is very disappointing. (Especially since she still appears in the game!) Not to mention the lack of Ghost Rider, Elektra and Blade. (Blade was a lot of fun to play. Heh heh) I’m still wondering about the lack of Hawkeye, but w/e. They did a number of cast choices right (Hello, Iron Fist!) but then have some really questionable ones (Songbird and Penance.) I’d have much rather had Spider-woman in Songbird’s place. Hmmm.
