[Background] Iris’ history won't be complete if we don't mention two people that Phoenix has encountered in his cases. One would be Morgan Fey, Pearl's mother who attempted to frame Maya of murder in Justice for All. The other person would be Dahlia Hawthorne, Phoenix’s ex-girlfriend who tried to kill him for a piece of important evidence that was on his person on the first case of Trials and Tribulations.
How are these psychopathic women connected to the shrine maiden? Well, one: Dahlia and Iris are twin sisters and two: Morgan is their mother.
Now the story starts.
A long time ago, Morgan married a wealthy jeweler and gave birth to twin daughters. She and her husband were certain she’d be the master of the Kurain Channeling technique. The title has always gone to the elder sister for many generations. Imagine their rage and disappointment when the title had gone to the younger sister instead, Misty Fey who apparently had more spiritual power than Morgan.
Because being in the "branch family" held no recognition nor power, Mr. Hawthorne left the village with Dahlia and Iris (the only reason he married Morgan in the first place was to have close ties with the government which the clan she belong to had). He remarried a woman who had a daughter of her own named Valerie. Thinking that having two daugthers were enough, Mr. Hawthorne left Iris at Hazakura temple where she was raised by the head nun, Sister Bikini (Yes. That bikini. The other characters couldn't believe it either).
In the course of her young life, Dahlia Hawthorne has manipulated and killed people for her own personal gain. One could say she's the perfect criminal: cold, unfeeling, and pretty damn ruthless when she needs to be. Despite her psychotic nature, Iris still loves Dahlia unconditionally and will do anything the older twin asks like pretending to be Dahlia in order to take back the poison vial from a young Phoenix Wright. Iris even blames herself when Dahlia was executed not long ago, saying that she couldn't "save" her.
Going back to the present timeline, Iris was once again tangled up in Dahlia's schemes. She was contacted by Prosecutor Godot about a premeditated murder that was going to take place in Hazakura temple. In a nutshell, Pearl Fey was going to summon the vengeful spirit of Dahlia Hawthorne. While in Pearl's body, Dahlia will sought out Maya Fey and kill in her cold blood, hopefully with a witness in plain sight. Not only will Maya will be out of the way, Iris will be blamed for the murder for the mere fact she has Dahlia's face.
Enter Phoenix Wright who was dragged by Maya and Pearl to come with them in Hazakura temple. There, he met Sister Bikini, Misty's alter-ego, Elise Deauxnim (a picture book author), her apprentice Laurice (aka Larry Butz trying to turn over a new leaf), and finally, Iris whom he had an awkward "first" meeting with. When he asked her if they have met somewhere before, five psyche-locks appeared, making the nun take a hasty exit. Iris gave Phoenix her hood in their second meeting, hinting at the possible danger that might occur later that evening.
This is when the plans of both factions had gone south.
By this time, lightning had strike and Dusky Bridge was on fire, making it impossible for Iris to cross. Godot tied the body to one of the bridges cables and swung it over to Iris' side. The nun then took out the katana from the body. Unfortunately, Sister Bikni saw this and fainted from the shock. Undaunted, Iris used the Seven Branch sword and stabbed Elise again, throwing off the police on what the real murder weapon is. Based on Bikini's eyewitness accounts, Iris became the sole suspect in the murder of Elise Deauxim.
After a pair prosecutors were made to stall time for Phoenix, Iris was ultimately proven not guilty of murder Elise but she was guilty of helping Godot messing with a crime scene. Before she was taken away, Iris confessed to Phoenix that he only saw Dahlia twice: when he first met her in the courthouse library and during his trial. The attorney understood and it looks like they'll be rekindling their relationship after Iris is released. Phoenix will, however, suffer from little Pearly's megaton slaps of doom for "cheating" on Mystic Maya XD;;
[Personality]
Iris is the polar opposite of her twin. While it was established that Dahlia is evil an expert on using her feminine wiles to manipulate the people around her (and has no qualms in taking human lives), the younger twin is kinder, gentler, and more patient than her sister. She actually has a heart and a conscience which Dahlia hated with every fiber of her being.
Despite the fact the older sister keeps pushing Iris away, she is very loyal to her and will do anything Dahlia asks. Based on how Phoenix was acting when he was in college, Iris is the epitome of an affectionate girlfriend, calling him "Feenie" and being all sweet and cutesy couple way back then .
She's a bit on the shy side, bewildered on "Laurice's" obvious attraction to her, prompting her to avoid Larry's advances on her as much as possible.
Oh and she's adorable when she blushes =DD.
[Specialties/Abilities] While she does not have spiritual powers like Mia, Maya, or Pearl, Iris can create and unlock physical Psyche-Locks. Other than that, she's just a normal nun working at Hazakura temple.
[Affection] Iris is rather a shy creature and if a character here likes her, she'll be rather oblivious to it but she is friendly =33. For now, all of her love and affection is reserved for a certain defense attorney 8DD.
