I walk these empty streets, on the Boulevard of Broken Dreams...

Victoria society had very strict rules on mourning. If you were in deep mourning, your clothes were to be of a black, non-reflective material. Widows were expected to be in mourning for two years; children mourning parents (or visa versa) were to be in mourning for a year.

I did my part today, wearing my "mourning" clothes: a long grey wool skirt, black boots, and a black sweater. No, I'm not going to keep that up for a year or two, because that's silly and it will do us all more good if I move on and try to continue to affect change than if I just mope.

HOWEVER, I do have a very serious question on my mourning period. When is the correct time to take my Kerry-Edwards sticker off the back of my car? I do not want to simply abandon them the second they lose, I was beginning to really like Kerry (probably more than I ever liked Gore) and I am mildly in love with Edwards. But I also do not want to be a "Sore Loserman" and keep it on forever and ever. Maybe I should be writing to Emily Post or Dear Abby about this, but I'm not going to and want your imput.

Here's some great snippets from conversations today:

Jst Believe 5 36: I should REALLY move to Ohio or something that's a swing state
margolater: no kidding.. or Alabama! Bush only won by 2% there.. then we could domino theory the suckers out of the south

margolater: it's disaster in the making
margolater: I'm just praying and praying that someone does a "weekend at Bernies" with rehnquist until 2008
Jst Believe 5 36: i hope you weren't planning on having any rights...
----------

Jst Believe 5 36: yup, in 200 years this will be an essential part of somebody's book "The Rise and Fall of the American Empire"

margolater: W '04- no to stem cell research; yes to the death penalty; no to amnesty (seriously, it's on the platform), no to gay rights, no to welfare, social security, and medicare, no to after school programs and daycare-- "Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and
robbing the fatherless. What will you do on the day of reckoning, when disaster comes from afar?" Isaiah 10:1-3... and Dub, I don't think "Don't mess with Texas" is gonna work on the big guy.
----------
Jst Believe 5 36: i think alot of people in the red states think he's the second coming
reenayjay: haha the "red states"
