Goodbye Richmond

Aug 02, 2008 23:10

It's been two weeks since I landed here on the land of the free, too much flavored water, supersized meals and George W. Bush.

Last weekend was a good break from the hotel-office-hotel routine. Cousins from upstate VA picked me up and took me to DC. I heart DC. I love how pedestrian friendly it is. I love the shops, the hole in the wall restaurants, the fact that you can take a bus from its Chinatown that will transport you the the Chinatown of NYC. When I was about to visit the usual tourist stops, it started to rain cats and dogs. At any rate, it was all good. I still saw the White House, the Pentagon, the phallic Washington Monument (it's bigger than I expected), and other offices where the fate of the world is decided. Crazy weather.

So far, I've survived a stye, and right now I have toothache. I hate it.

At long last I'm leaving Richmond. This is a nice city but you just need a car to really appreciate it, something the company was not able to provide me. To add to that, I was placed in a hotel north of downtown, so not much happening here. It's just a K-Mart and a couple of fast food restaurants. In a few hours, I'm on a plane again to take me to Chicago, then Phoenix.

Although Phoenix is in the hundreds right now, I'm still uber excited. The hotel is in a commercial area so I don't have to worry about walking and people watching. And then there's Los Angeles, the week after. My real vacation.

Barnes and Noble bookstores are love. I can just stay there the entire day and you won't hear a single complain from me. As a Discover card TV as puts it" "The trouble is, there's so much cool stuff, that it's easy to get a little carried away."

Haha. I kinda did get carried away. Just a little. I think.

Of all the amazing things that I have seen in this country, nothing has taken my mind off you.
