There is no such thing as altruism

Yeah, today started okay enough...get out of bed at a decent time, muster some energy, and get all psyched about my interview and dinner plans with everyone tonight. Strike one! Get a call at 11:30 from Centennial telling me they have to reschedule my interview for whatever reason to next Monday. Now that, in and of itself, is not such a big deal, but even after that one, there's the final another week or so later, then another weekish until they'd officially hire me on. Circuit City wants my official (as in signed and bound) holiday availability by this Sunday. Don't want to screw them over...oh well, piss. Some things can't be helped, but I'll do my best to accommodate, short of informing them I'm on the verge of jumping ship right before the most important time of the year in retail, as they'd probably give me some bad vibes until we parted ways. And since there's no guarantee that I have the job (though I'm super-qualified for it), I don't want to sour relations unitl it becomes necessary, if at all. Strike two also involves my current employer, as they have decided to flex their corporate whore muscles and deny my Sunday to go to C-Bus with Dave and Brad to meet up with Lolo and see Snow Patrol. <3 run-ons. Sucks that my status of the entertainment head doesn't give me any benefits, just more hassle, cuz apparently no one is qualified enough to work in my stead...or some bullshit. Every sales manager and a team of people who are more than capable will be there, so this has me seriously irked. Oh well, live and learn...and there's always room for improvement, or an upgrade, mwahaha. Didn't find the time to get fitted for the tux either, have to do it tomorrow after work. All that stupidity aside, it was a great day. Dale came over; hadn't seen him in quite some time, so we sat and talked for a bit. Then Allen got back, so we packed up the supplies and headed to Brian Ho's house to meet up with him and Lissa, Erin and Ian, Brad, and ShammerS. I really love to cook for people, so I lured them over with promises of a homecooked meal. It worked d= Food or no, it was a good time, playing DDR and Pop'N, spending some quality time with Erin and friends I don't see nearly as often as I'd like to (including some engauging political/philosophical discussion with Chibi), and even poker. Oh yeah, and the food...Brian made his excellent variation of Hot and Sour soup...hats off to him, the guy has skills there, delish. My offering to the group was two versions of creamy alfredo sauce (one with mushrooms, one without) with lemon herb chicken, along with lattes and my version of a Waldorf salad (Romaine, herbal balsamic mayo with diced pecans, apples, and celery). It was good, and everyone really seemed to enjoy it, which tickled me more than I let on. Hehe ^^ Erin gets to go on a cruise to the hurricane friendly Bahamas/Carribean area next week, so I won't get to see her for a week and a half, but we hung out twice this week already, so I'm not gonna cry too much over it. We'll keep in touch as per usual, unless a big nasty hurricane decides she looks tasty =/ Or her brother's car kills her, the POS. Makes me feel for Brad and Lolo too...distance is certainly not the worst thing ever, but...yeah. You know.

Oh, and Brad...how long are those tables? I have nine feet of workable space, and would certaily pay you for one if it's sturdy enough and fits well.
