Zanpaktou: Ghost in the Machine....An FST
Bleach is, more or less, an epic-scale shonen manga about an angsty kid with orange hair and a complicated status vis-a-vis alive or dead who kills soul-eating monsters with a big freaking sword.
A Big. Freaking. Sword. Which occasionally likes to show up looking disturbingly like a cooler version of his dad and talk to him about life, the universe, and everything. In fact, you'd be hard-pressed to find a sword in this series that doesn't talk.
The full cast is approximately the size of a small European principality, so there're lots of other plotlike things going on, of course--like a corrupt afterlife, a cosmic war, and more gay innuendo than you can shake a pride parade at--but for the purposes of this FST, it is ALL about the talking swords.

Zanpakutou: Ghost in the Machine
A zanpakutou is a living weapon, both a kind of extension of the personality and spiritual power of the wielder AND a separate entity and personality in its own right. Given the number of completely BATSHIT INSANE personalities in Bleach, there are also plenty of very iiiiiiiinteresting zanpakutous.
The sheer size of the cast prevents me from honoring all of these metal-and-magic divas, but I included as many as I could make confident song IDs for. The list is tilted towards Shinigami as I started working on this FST lo many moons ago before the Arrancars' zanpakutou had names and personalities, but as I was finishing it for posting I also added some Arrancar tracks. Each one is listed by name, with an English translation, and with the name of the wielder.
