A happy ending
Went to Chain of Rocks Bridge as well. I didn't figure that we'd go there, so I didn't look anything up ahead of time. As it turned out, they were having Eagle Days there so we headed out. Didn't see any eagles (at least not there other than the stuffed one in one display and a live one in another display) but we did walk across the bridge. Since we didn't have any reference photos, there was no way to get the same vantage point except by luck. As you can see from the photos I've chosen for Then, the vantage point isn't that important. The earlier photos were taken in 1998 from the Illinois side, which is the same end that mine were taken.
It's amazing how much of a difference a few years makes and I'm even more amazed after looking at the 1998 pictures that there was a bridge to walk across in 2006. Please visit the webpage that the 1998 photos came from.
