Of course, if we didn't have such an incredible addiction to oil, companies such as BP wouldn't have to go to further and further extremes to extract the stuff for our ongoing convenience in the first place.  Who's ultimately responsible for what's happening in the Gulf of Mexico?  We are.  We demanded it, so sit back and enjoy the show.
