Birthday Week

My birthday week began with a nice visit from Anna on Wednesday evening. A bunch of people (Anna, Heather Lin, Chris, Travis, and Richard) met up at The Chimes and had dinner, then we made a mad dash to the Mall Rave theater to see Harry Potter. Unfortunately, we failed to realize just how popular the movie would be for a 8:30 showing on a weeknight....we were forced to sit on the front row. It wasn't the best situation, but we still enjoyed ourselves ("All hands on deck, Granger!"). After the movie, Richard, Anna and I made our way back toward campus and we met up with Amber (fresh from a semester at Disney and China??). We moved over to our apartment where silly movie watching and tequila shots ensued in early early celebration of my bday.

Thursday was my actual birthday. I decided to go ahead and work since I'd just taken a week and a half off. After work, a semi-different set of folks (Chris, Travis, Kimmy, Richard, and Hilary) had dinner at Casa Maria. Afterwords, was a game night at Ms. Gounier's apartment.

Friday, I worked my usual half day, then had a nice lunch at Zea's with some engineering friends. We decided over lunch that Harry Potter needed to be watched, and since I didn't get to see it with this set of friends, I decided what the hell. After the movie, we head to Fred's for the standard open bar. I abstained from liquor and had beer instead.

Saturday, I woke up to a phone call from my dad insisting I ride to Gulfport to watch my 7-year-old brother play in a baseball tournament. Actually, I had planned on going anyway, but still didn't like the 8:30am phone call...  SOooo, by the time I made it to Gulfport, the game was over, but there would be games the next day anyway. So, my parents had arranged for Blake to go home with another family so we could stay behind and hit the casino. Once we had our fill (and literally, because we hit the buffet before we left), we headed to Mobile for the night.

So, today we got to wake up early again and head back to Gulfport to see who would win the tournament. It was a total shut-out, as my brother's team won by at least 12 in both of the games they played, making them the champs in their age group. After all the baseball was done, I headed back to Baton Rouge. That puts a slight close on this birthday...for now...there's still another lunch tomorrow, and a trip to NOLA that needs to be made in the near future, once I figure out what weekend I'm free...
