Erik spotted the motion out of the corner of his eye as he and Charles walked down the street. He frowned and looked over in time to see the young woman looking self-conscious while onlookers stared.

He knew the look on her face well enough to understand what had just happened.

It wasn't just Erik who had spotted the motion, he did as well, and his head turned slightly to where the dark haired woman was standing.

He gave his friend a look and narrowed his eye. Since he started his recovery, he had altogether stopped placing his finger to his temple. As far as he was concerned, he needed to be a little more discreet these days.

As they approached the woman, Charles simply looked around.

"Nothing happened here. Be on your way." he said, only loud enough for the people staring to hear.

Jeanne-Marie had started to back away when she noticed the staring, and was ready to run for it. She was ready to crash back into her apartment and sit staring at the wall with her bible on her lap, pretending that everything was absolutely fine. The last thing she had expected was anyone to come forward and defend her, especially not an Englishman.

She stared at them for a few seconds, still a bit of a deer in headlights, holding her purchase close to her. The people staring started to dissipate, and the woman whom she had helped was hurrying off in the other direction without even a thank you.

She didn't care, anyway.

"...Merci. Thank you."
