Linux & 5Chains

Jun 20, 2006 00:13

1) I *finally* successfully compiled my own Linux kernel (2.6.17). Its timer has a bug in it, which I found out about from two different sources immediately after I finished booting, but damnit I've been trying to get a successful Linux install from source since at least 2003.

2) My sound recording apparatus is suddenly *much* better. So I recorded a take of '5Chains.' Nothing amazing, but it's slowly all coming together. Next I'll have to figure out how to sing without bothering my neighbours.

3) During the upgrading of kernels ordeal, I happened to go back to dillo and icewm for awhile and GOD DAMN is it ever fast. I cannot express to you how fast this stuff has gotten, if you're running linux and you've never seen dillo, go out and install it. It takes like a second to install. I'm kind of at a crossroads; Do I keep using stuff like StumbleUpon, Firefox, gnome-terminal(which I've got to do some neat transparent stuff with) or do I go back to icewm, dillo, assembly language and CLI? I'm so torn.

4) no meirionwen yet :(

5) archimedes is blinking at me, for some reason.
