xorg X11R7

the upgrade from Xorg X11R6.9 to X11R7 was difficult. Difficult, but possible.

I ran into practically every bug listen on the debian BTS, and somehow managed through all of it to get a working system.

A few things that should probably happen(off the top of my head)
* xorg/dselect must detect what kind of video card you have, and download the apropriate video drivers
* there's some serious dependancy funny stuff going on with xorg in debian sid, and that's got to be untangled
* (done)xorg must realize and inform people a) not to customize their xorg.conf so that it can replace it with an updated version and in case they have already customized it, advise them in what to do
* everything in the X11C69to7 list

what you can do to ease your difficulty in this upgrade
* read the Debian Sid page
* make sure to grab your drivers. let's say that again make sure to grab your drivers
* you might have to go editing in gdm.conf, and xorg.conf. Be prepared to do this, and have a backup text editor handy in case your current one breaks(nano and emacs both broke)

xorg x11r7, gnome, debian, xorg, gnu/linux
