Our last guests have taken their leave.  Breakfast's cleared and the dining room tidied.  The guest rooms are cleaned, the beds stripped, and the washing done.  One token bed has been made up, "just in case".  The others, duvet folded at the bottom of the bed and pillows piled on top are in "winter mode" so they look farily neat if any curious out- ( Read more... )

Oh dear. Was it lack of inspiration or lack of time? Hopefully you'll get it finished eventually.

I've managed to get the opening of mine down on paper. Now I've done that I'm a bit more confident about getting it finished, as long as it doesn't run away with me and become a monster, that is ...

Ooof! I bet you're glad to have a bit of a break. Well, after you've finished your fic of course ;)

We had aperos with another couple who run a B&B and gite complex last night. They're full this coming weekend but after that they're also eagerly anticipating a bit of a break. Its that end of season feeling :-).

Incidentally - how long should one stay if invited just for an aperitif? We find it terribly difficult to judge. Last night, she went off to a PTA meeting after we'd been there about an hour and a half so we started making leaving noises but he seemed quite happy to go on chatting to us all night. We eventually left about half an hour after she'd gone, pleading tiredness as an excuse. It's a social minefield this apero thing!

LOL! It can be awkward, I know! We rarely invite people for just an apero any more, because it always ends up translating itself into dinner, which I'm too tired to cope with at the moment. If we're invited, we don't tend to stay that long, but that's because it always clashes with the kids' bath and dinner time, so we do have a good excuse if we want to go home! An hour and a half sounds fine to me.
