taurenova I am sorry you are not watching 360 tonight because Erica apprises me that later in the show will be Anderson's most embarrassing 360 moments of the year.
1) Healthcare talk. There's going to be a vote on the morning of the 24th, made possible by the ability to raise the U.S. government's debt limit. After the Senate lets out they won't get back till the 19th, apparently. There's only going to be a week after they get back before the State of the Union. (Good luck with that, guys.)
ETA Lobbyists. 3185 vs. 535 members of Congress. We are at the Magic Wall for some rather painful figures about how much money they spent to shape healthcare reform, as well as how many former Congresspeople and aides work for the healthcare industry.
ETA2 Tom Foreman is here to tell us how the bill will affect people. Since the Senate bill is technically in limbo, he's going with UC Berkley's figures calculated from the House bill.
2) Erica is amused at Roland Burris (D-Illinois), who wrote a healthcare reform themed "Night Before Christmas" for the Senate's entertainment today. The 360 graphics department is so excited they give him a Santa hat and a Christmas lights frame.
Matt Latimer, a former Bush speechwriter, agreed to write 360 a Republican version of the story, with a dramatic reading from a 360 staffer.
David Gergen is here to lol and comment on the ongoing situation of what is going on in the debate and whether the House or the Senate have more power. He thinks the public option doesn't have much of a chance, and something like the Stupak abortion language will stay in. Also, public opinion.
3) David Goldman, the father whose son was taken to Brazil and has been there for some ridiculous amount of time. The kid's mother took him to Brazil and married, but she died and David has been trying to get his son back. The Brazilian courts ruled today that the stepfather's family has to turn his son back over to David. If there's no appeal, it'll go through.
ETA Barry Goldman, the paternal grandfather, is here to discuss. As well as their House representative, Chris Smith (R-NJ), who worked on their behalf.
4) Randi Kaye with a 360 Bulletin. A dust storm hit Arizona and caused a massive, fatal pileup. A 360 Follow on the army general in Iraq who said that pregnant soldiers should be court martialed, but now says that soldiers won't be court marialed. Or something. A dog in NY has gotten sick with H1N1. Bo Obama barked at Santa today while the Obamas read some stories. He was very upset. XD
5) A followup on a story in Texas about police who seized items from people they pulle over, and a DA used the money to go to Hawaii on vacation. As well as ten hours (from a whole week) of law seminars. A state senator, John Whitmire, thinks the forfiture law is ridiculous.
ETA Gary Tuchman is vacationing in CNN, though not on the taxpayer's dime. He is commenting on the story.
6) The Top 5 Embarrassing Anderson Cooper Moments of 2009. "Our fearless leader" who makes us laugh "with him and at him." He's on vacation tonight, which is kind of the point.
5) Kathy Griffin and Suzie Orman visiting on his birthday.
4) Meeting Nancy Grace's twins. One cried at being held by him.
3) Failing at the news game with his avatar mocking him for it.
2) Richard Simmons attempting to get him to dance to Lady Gaga.
1 Three of the (male) 360 crew dancing to Single Ladies.
Erica and Randi lol.
7) A preview from "All the Best, All the Worst of 2009" with Tom Foreman.
8) Randi Kaye's bulletin, most of which I unfortunately blanked out for. >_> Something about the American student convicted of a murder in Italy. The FBI releases files on Michael Jackson. There is an unusual jail sentence for someone.
9) Beat 360. Erica sings because the staff entry is lyrics from Born in the USA. The picture was of Obama and Bruce Springsteen.
