020811: We are going to have a lot of fun together :), originally uploaded by hungrymoon.
Yesterday was swimming class day three and it happened to be the most fun!

I'm usually by myself in the 8.20pm class; all the other students come at the 7.10 right after work. When I was choosing classes I had to factor in my at least hour-long travel from the North and the fact that I'm coding on Wednesdays so I opted for the last class.

On my second class, I had two teachers watching me. But last night one student was late for the earlier class so I had a classmate for the first time. I made the most of my teacher's divided attention to practice on my own.

I love Aqualogic's method of teaching, that they cut the freestyle into small, easy, logical drills, which you need to master to complete and execute the stroke perfectly. I'm now on the 4th drill, and last night I was glad to have some "downtime" to allow myself to really ease into the drill and feel how it is supposed to feel when done the right way. I'm a bit of a slow-learner in that sense, because I like to take my time, I want to make sure I feel it and it seems perfect to me; I don't usually care what the teacher says.

What made it fun was three students from the earlier class decided to stay for another hour, and at one point we were all making fun of all the people who were out on a date on Valentine's, and we were all acting as though it didn't matter to us but it probably did, just a little, except to be honest it really felt great to be out in the pool, practicing our drills, making like fish, swimming to our hearts' content. It was the first time I felt at peace in the water. I'm beginning to seriously love the water.
