Tobey waited for three hours at the small café, pretending to read the book he had thought to bring.
Why had he let himself believe that Jack would join him for lunch? Why did he let himself believe Jack wanted him back?
Tobey felt foolish now; he paid the bill for the food he had hardly touched, and walked out of the restaurant.
Five minutes later, Jack his suit and tie covered with sweat came to the restaurant only to find out from one of the waiters that Tobey had just left. Jack cursed to himself for letting his frat brothers distract him, and also for not bringing his cell phone with him.
Jack had a feeling that he would never be able to make this up to Tobey. He figured that Tobey would probably be angry at him for a long time. He had a feeling that they would both end up crying themselves to sleep.
