Angel knew he was too old to daydream. (He supposed his his case that was the wrong word, as he spent most of his time in the day sleeping when he had a chance.)
Ever since he had escaped from Sunnydale, he found if he wasn’t paying attention, his thoughts would drift to Willow. He thought at first it was his mind’s safeguard. If he had actually let himself think about Buffy, it would be too hard to get through the cases he was working. They needed all the attention he could give them.
Now, after almost a year of being in Los Angeles, he realized the answer was much simpler than that. He was in love with Willow. He had probably been for a long time.
Angel was certain he would only bring pain in her life, though. It was better for him to stay in Los Angeles where he was needed right now.
