Henry stood outside Vicki’s door with a bouquet of red roses. He waited patiently as he heard her moving around inside her apartment.
She opened the door with a start, placing her hand flat against her chest. “You need to learn to stop sneaking up on a girl.”
Henry extended the flowers, and gave her a grin. “I didn’t mean to scare you.” He smirked, letting her know that partial he did.
She smiled, and moved aside so she could come in. Vicki took the flowers as she closed the door, and they walked to the kitchen. She found a large plastic cup, and set the flowers in them. She set the cup under the faucet in the sink, and turned on the tap. “What are the flowers for?” She asked a little skeptical of his intentions. They had been dating for three months, but she still never quite understood his random romantic gestures. Her nature made her always suspect they were because he had done something bad.
“Because.” He gave her a wide grin. He was feeling a bit playful tonight, and was enjoying teasing her.
Vicki turned off the water, and set the cup on the counter. She leaned towards him, and they shared a kiss. “Thank you. Have you fed tonight?”
He lifted his eyebrows playfully. “I was waiting to see if you had a case tonight.”
She gave him a wicked grin. “I have a case, but to solve it we won’t be able to leave the apartment for a few hours.”
“I like those kinds of cases.” He pulled her close to him, and sunk his fangs into her neck.
She moaned happily, running her fingers through his hair.
