Hurrah, another media post! I've officially given up the idea that I will ever post anything else here so I'll just use this for a life update too. Schoolwise I fell down a terrible academic blackhole at the start of this month I am currently trying to claw my way back out of. So far I'm nearly caught up on my readings for every course but one. If I finish those and write five very good essays and three exams within the next three weeks I think I can probably pull a B average for the year. Which will lose me my scholarship and be the worst GPA I've had in years but. -shrugs- This is why you don't take 120% courseload when you are a terrible procrastinator who reacts with dread when assigned essay topics they can't think how to respond to. I have learned some excellent life lessons about my personal academic capabilities this semester.
On the bright side I passed my tae kwon do test yesterday to move on to yellow stripe so I haven't failed all my life goals! Plus if our president succeeds in getting us gym space on Mondays and Wednesdays over the summer I'll be able to keep coming to training. Next goal: become a yellow belt by September? :D Also, attempt not to be eliminated in the first round of patterns in the Ottawa tournament in June. If I make it to the second round I'll already be improving on my performance in Toronto this month! I'm going to focus on patterns and kicks over the summer (my turning kick is a sad sight to behold, my instructor even included a comment to improve my balance in my test results).
Other good news includes having a job and all my third year English courses lined up for the summer. If everything goes well there I'll only have to do four courses each semester next year which should help me enormously on not repeating the academic tragedies of this semester.
Aaaand that's p. much everything of consequence to happen to me over March. Let's move on to the fun entertainment stuff!

Movies
7. Colombiana (March 15) - 2 stars
Okay the stupid DVD died on me an hour and ten minutes in and I spent like an hour of aggravation trying to get it to work on me again so you know what? I watched this movie. It counts because if it doesn't I'm going to have to send a very angry letter to the library and they don't deserve that because it's not their fault some of their patrons are jerks who scratch up DVDs and ruin them for the rest of us.
Anyways it was OK. I was kind of hoping for something as fun as The Losers which wasn't really a fair expectation, I mean this is a different movie. I don't really understand what the boyfriend character was for? Unless he dies near the end in her final stand or something. Because there's this whole scene where he's all Jennifer tell me more about who you are, come on, at least tell me what you like for breakfast. And I was sitting there like uhhhh buddy, you are apparently far along enough in your relationship she has a key to your apartment, you don't think you ought to have asked a couple of these questions earlier? I dunno man, kind of feels like you're changing the rules of the game on her here.
Idk, it was all really by the numbers. I liked the kid they had playing child!Catalina though, she was good. Maybe there should be an action movie starring her. 2 stars
8. Bridesmaids (March 18) - 4 stars
That was amazingly great?!? I can't believe the same guy who did Superbad and Knocked Up made this, I didn't think he had anything this good in him. Good job bro! Maybe all your comedies ought to star ladies, they seem to bring out better writing in you.
Basically this is the kind of hilarious movie about friendship and growing up that is excellent buddy night fare. You'll probably want to turn off the tv during the horrendously embarrassing food poisoning at the bridal shop sequence (tooooooo much bro, too much) but everything else managed to be funny without hitting my embarrassment squick (well okay, the duelling toasts scenes did a little bit but my DVD thankfully started messing up at that point and I was distracted by my irritated attempts to fix it). Idk what to say guys, it was just really fun. I'd definitely be willing to rewatch it. 4 stars
9. Friends With Benefits (March 24) - 4 stars
Okay so this a rom com starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis which gave it points straight out of the gate. It capitalized on those by being charming and having excellent chemistry between the characters. Also the sex scenes were great, awkward and funny and realistic, like they were constantly telling each other what they liked and also he went down on her so high five. They just clearly liked each other! I like movies where people who like each other kiss! I really like it when they're ridiculously attractive people too! 4 stars
