waiting to see the storm. watching the outer bands of rita come over austin: cumulus clouds at 1000 feet, moving in a clockwise ENE rotation- brisk breeze with gust up to 15 mph. wondering what will happen to houston over these next hours, thinking of my friends who got out early and those who had horrifying experiences on the highways, thinking about all the babies, elderly and ill sitting in their cars moving 2 miles in 8 hours in the back of pick up trucks and cars with the a/c off and windows rolled down to conserve fuel.. did they think to bring water - i wonder. i hope that they did. I really do.
if it's bad the plan is to go on to colorado and call the insurance agency to check out the house. we'll see.
