Ooh! I almost forgot. Since I was whining about my lack of a proper sorry looking Christmas trees I wondered if anyone'd be interesting in seeing the final result.*
I ended up buying a brand new tree and than leaving it indoors for 10 days and never letting a single drop of water near it. I then did a bit of grooming:
