A TLN Update.....

Hello everyone...this is one of the hardest entries I've had to write.

Alex and I were merrily answering e-mails and gearing up for summer Comic Market--and I received a phone call from my family yesterday. My father passed away unexpectedly last weekend, and I'll be making an emergency trip home to attend his funeral and help with my family's affairs.

My phone's been ringing off the hook, but I've also been thinking about you guys and what this turn of events means.

1. Summer Comic Market and Osaka's Super Comic City: Unfortunately, I'll be out of the country and unable to attend either convention. I am REALLY sorry about this, because I'd been looking forward to attending these events as much as anyone.

2. Current Orders: This is the trickiest issue of all, and one I'd been wrestling with. A few people have some orders I was working on putting together, with payment issues to consider and so on. Because of my extended absence I decided that the fairest thing would be to ship all the doujinshi and goodies I have, and work out the money issues later.

Normally I wouldn't trust total strangers, but I've gotten to know many of you over the months and am sure you'll do the right thing. Kindness begets kindness, and if I fulfill my promise to send you what I've got you can help me out by sending your payments when you can. If you're one of these people left in the lurch you'll be hearing from me in the next day or two.

3. The Nook's Future: At this point, I'm not sure what will happen. What I do need is time to get through these next few days, and then I can make a decision regarding what to do. I'll still be around to answer emails and the like but for people interested in requesting new orders the Nook will officially be on hiatus until further notice.

As I might have mentioned to some of you, the Nook was named after a cozy corner in my dad's house, where he kept his large CD and book collection. Dad encouraged me to take this crazy idea and give it a try, and was always curious about the conventions I went to and the people I met along the way, online and off. He's gone now, but I feel a little better knowing that part of what I learned from him lives on, somehow.

I'll be around to field your questions and comments, although my online access will be sporadic next week. Thanks again and please let me know what's up!
