Alrighty, I'll see you then. Thank you! [Hangs up the phone and returns to her room to change out of her nightgown. It's lucky that she's familiar with petticoats and girdles, and though it's not as formal as what she's accustomed to (the skirt ends just below her knees and bares just enough leg to make her nervous) she concludes that as far as clothing goes, it could be much worse. She waits for her guest in the sitting room, in earshot of the doorbell.]

*About twenty minutes later, there's a knock on the door*

H-hello? We just spoke on the... Oh, what did Orihara-san call it again...? The phone! Yes, we spoke on the phone earlier. I've brought you some sandwiches.

[Hastens to the door to let her guest in, though she fumbles with the strange locks for a moment. Suppressing her anxiety for the moment, she smiles graciously at the woman, holding the door open to her.] Thank you very much for coming. Please come in.

*Iroha steps in the door and slips out of her shoes, leaving them in the doorway.*

It took me a little longer to find your home. I am still learning Mayfield's streets and who lives where.

*She hands Garnet the sandwiches* My name is Iroha. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Thank you... [Taking the sandwiches with a grateful smile, Garnet shuts the door behind Iroha and leads her to the small table in the kitchen, setting the sandwiches down.] Please have a seat.

[She lowers herself into a chair, hands folded in her lap.] I'm very pleased to meet you, Iroha. I am Garnet til Alexandros, Queen of Alexandria... [Mentioning her title is painful now that she is so separated from her kingdom.] Have you been here very long, Iroha?

[She's too full of questions to really be hungry, but she eats out of courtesy.] This is delicious!

[Quickly chews and swallows her mouthful of sandwich so that she doesn't reply with her mouth full, wiping her mouth with a napkin before speaking. She blushes at the sudden onset of formalities, thinking that perhaps she should have introduced herself as simply "Dagger" instead.] Oh!! No please, don't feel like you must be so formal with me, we are a long ways from my kingdom.

*The maid STILL has her head down, not wanting to look at Garnet face to face. She does eventually sit down, confused by the other's words. And she has yet to even answer Garnet's question*

I... I've only been here a few weeks. There are so many odd things about this place, like the kitchens and the food.

[The young queen frowns slightly, fidgeting in her seat a bit. She is perplexed by her submissive behavior; not even her handmaidens acted this way.] I can only imagine...I was never permitted in the royal kitchens as a child, and was much too busy with my duties to visit them later on. [Casts a nervous glance at the kitchen appliances behind her, realizing that there's no team of gourmet chefs, no Quina, to keep her fed here.] I suppose it's never too late to learn...
