I grew up around a lot of girls
who made little effort to be sophisticated.
They used "whatever" as a response,
in lieu of a proper comeback
and lacked the proficiency
to utilize an adult vocabulary.
It made me sick and lonely.
This one girl came along though,
this older broad from the B-lo.
We were talking one Califternoon,
and she used this word: peruse.
Aside from the old hag I learnt
the word from; I'd never heard
a female being use it - ever.
I questioned this exquisite girl,
to make sure I heard it right.
She confirmed it, so I said,
"I never heard a woman use
that wonderful word before today."
As if it wasn't official yet,
her reply made it so -
"That's 'cause most chicks are fucking stupid."
I fell in love with her instantly.
