I care about people,
I just don’t like them.
I want to help people,
but I don’t want to know them.
I would never
read to blind orphans
or build houses
in communities of poverty.
I desire knowledge and wealth
and am compelled to share
my passion for creation
to better the world.
I seek the prosperity
of seemingly limitless generosity,
to give to others in need.
A helping hand from a distance.
I was once a hermit,
because I was afraid
to permeate the fields,
meet a new friend or get laid.
I’m on a new path now.
I’m now a different hermit,
who feels inconvenienced
to bother with people.
I can only make enough
time and space for some.
We’re all made of matter,
but not all of us do.
