I'm sorry you were disappointed! I was actually quite pleased. I had no expectations and I've been disappointed in the show since Season 4, but it's still the finest TV there is/was.
I was happy to see the 'BtVS' roots be the end point: Feminism. Joss has never made any bones that 'BtVS' was a story about a woman empowered and that's what they finished with on an even grander scale: empowering more women. I was very pleased to see them underscore the basic premis of the show with this finale.
I thought I'd be all gloomy after the series finale, but I feel surprisingly up, though it could just be deinal.
I thought the ending was beautiful. What is Buffy going to do now? Anything she wants. This is the end of a chapter for her and the beginning of a whole new world, since she is no longer obligated to give up her life to fight evil all alone. She's free.
That's a good way of looking at it. I didn't think about it that way and was disappointed with that ending... but when I see it like that, it's good. :) Thanks!
It's all about possibilities. There's going to have to be a new Watchers' guild, that responsibility is now Giles' and the other Scoobies'. I'm thinking this will all be explained next season on Angel.
I hope so! They left such an interesting story and I'm so disappointed that we won't see the next chapter of it! I hope there is some representation of the Slayer story on Angel. I can't wait to see groups of slayers and newly-formed watcher guilds in action.
i thought this was an amazing wahy to end the series. i mean, it's not like their story is over, only to us. perhaps thats why there wasnt a sense of "closer" for you. i thought the scenes with the four of them rocked. they were talking about going to the mall!! in the high school!! it crapped season 1. then the whole ending, was soooo great. she was soooo happy because now, after all her life she is finally "normal" she is finally not alone. and that's the way it should have ended. she's free.

What do you mean, it won't be permanent?

There're always flashback scenes, hauntings, and hallucinations.
