The last episode ever...

They pulled a Digimon! I can't believe this happened to me twice! When the season finale of season 2 Digimon aired and lots of kids started to become digidestined I said: "Why don't you just make the whole goddamned world digidestined?!?!" And then I screamed because the next scene had Kari narrating: "Now everyone is digidestined!"

And now I watch "Chosen" and I joke to my brother "They're going to turn them all into Slayers!" I joked that they were going to drown Faith and resuscitate her, then play "who's got the power" and do them all one by one. So that's not quite what happened, but the result's just as annoying. So much for the Slayer standing alone...now all the potentials in the world are slayers. And what happened to there only being a handful of potentials left in the world? And them all being in Sunnydale? That's not what I saw. I thought it was really cheesy and cheap.

Overall, the episode left me really disappointed...

It had it's good moments, though. The shipper in me cheered at all the foreshadowing that one day Buffy and Angel could be reunited. And I knew that Buffy would tell Spike that she loved him...it's been foreshadowed for a while now. But I liked that when he said "no you don't" she didn't argue with him. I think she said it because she knew that when she left, he would die. The spuffyness was actually nice in this episode though. And you can't beat the Angel-Spike competitiveness!

I still want to know where the fuck Dawn got that taser from. (from the last ep, End of Days)

I hated that they made the end of the show all about Buffy, Spike and the Hellmouth, though. The other characters had their moments, but they were so small it felt insignificant. Like yes, Willow was responsible for giving all the potentials the power of the slayer, but we didn't get any Willow closure. Nor did we get Xander or Giles closure. And even though before the battle it was just the four of them before they each went off to do their thing, it didn't feel like it was about that core. It didn't feel right. We didn't even get a group hug! And at the end, it wasn't about the four of them. And that makes me sad.

I'm also disappointed that Dawn was so underused. There was all of that "Buffy won't choose you", which amounted to nothing. Last season, Willow said that Dawn still had all of that key-energy. I thought that would be tapped, but it wasn't.

And dammit, there just weren't enough casualties! The hugest battle ever and the only deaths are Spike (which won't be permanent), Anya and a few ex-potentials? Whatever.

On the subject of Anya's kicking the bucket... *sniffle* There went my hopes for a final Xander/Anya reunion. *le sigh*

And it really annoyed me that Buffy was pretty much mortally wounded (the First's words, not mine) and then she gets angry and she can not only stand and fight again, but she can now jump from rooftop to rooftop chasing after a bus? How about no?

The flash of Willow all glowy with sparkly white hair was cool, but I think it would have been cooler if it stayed white. Like, the black means she's evil and now she's all supergood. Even more superpowered, you know?

And the ending...left me cold. I did like that the whole town was swallowed up. And I liked that there's another hellmouth in Cleveland because that matches up with "The Wish" where Wish!Buffy had been in Cleveland instead. But when they were asking Buffy what they should do next and then it just went to credits, I was just like "Huh? That's it? Okay..."

So disappointed. But I'll get over it.
