August is basically the month of all costume events, where every possible costume-related group in the Seattle area decides to have events that all conflict with each other, even though there's no events the rest of the year. Thus, so far this month, I've done three costume events, with another one planned for next weekend.

Port Townsend was lovely! I didn't wind up finishing 100%, but I got about 98.5% done, so I was still happy. I didn't make the belt, for example, but I made the bow that goes on the belt, so I just pinned that onto my skirt waistband. And I pinned my petticoat closed instead of having hooks and eyes, and wound up sewing on the buttons to the plaid ( Read more... )

Gah! I only have one day left! Hats may not happen. I'm getting really nervous...

I got home at about 5pm yesterday, and other than a break for dinner, I pretty much sewed until 10:30, when I forced myself to stop so that I could at least get about 6.5 hrs of sleep. I still have so much to do, though!

On Saturday, a group of my friends and I attended the Geeks Who Drink "When You Wish Upon a Bar" Disney quiz in Tacoma. Three of us dressed up, and I pulled out Jane to wear. Saturday was the Snoqualmie Railroad Days event that I was making the new teens-era dress for. I did finish my dress, though I wound up staying up to 2am the night before in order to finish it! I managed to finish everything, and wore it all this last weekend at the Victorian Festival. On Saturday, January 13th, a few of us from the Puget Sound Historical Costumers Guild (Agnes, Mara, DodiRose, and myself) met up to visit the corset exhibit at the White River Valley Museum in Auburn and go to tea in Sumner. Actually, I've been doing a fair bit of sewing. I have about 2/3 of the trim on the commission at this point, and I managed to make myself a new spencer after all!

Port Townsend was lovely. I got up there about 3:30 on Friday, and met up with Val at the hotel. We went out to the antique stores in our muggle-wear, and though I was tempted by a ton, I was good and only bought a $5 vintage white eyelet apron. Then I changed into my skating dress, and we joined Mara for dinner.
