Was wandering round stalls at the public sector procurement conference and in a quiet corner found two lonely chaps from Language Link - they provide in-person and remote translation services for the NHS, police etc. They listed some services on a pull-up banner including in-person and video BSL, so when they said hello, I asked if they also provided STTR.
Er, wozzat?
I explained - can be done in person or remotely which needs a screen but if they can do video already should be feasible. And currently they are meeting all needs except those of non-signing deaf, ie 5 out of 6 of them. And with an aging population and more awareness of need to ensure deafies understand doctors etc, there's going to be increasing demand.
Ah , ker-ching!
Indeed. So even if you just sort out a subcontract so you can pass on customers easily, would be a good idea.
Thank you - we will definitely look into that and ensure we can then tell NHS etc we offer a totally comprehensive service. Can we take your email to update you and if we need any further info? Lovely. Have a pen and a chocolate.
