The Paris Excuse....

So, here's the big update.

I went home on saturday for easter stuff at home. I get to the house and dad's not there, but mom is. I try to get more information out of her before I get the big story from dad. Well, you know how moms are....She pretty much knew everything about it. And, as it turns out, she knew dad had the para-plane, just not that he was flying it. Either way, she wasn't all that mad, just relieved nothing too bad happened. Anyway, mom starts to tell me the whole story....Wayne's World Flash-back...

Dad was out working on the para-plane. There's a field down the road from us that my uncle owns, so my dad was flying around it, testing the engine, making sure everything was up to par before taking it anywhere else. This field happens to be next to a rather large hill; and, unbeknownst to dad---yet knownst to the hill---wind currents rush around that hill, causing a rough ride for any para-plane enthusiasts out there. The engine stalled and dad couldn't turn the thing around....Raging winds pressed dad down and towards a row of houses. With the engine dead and the houses rapidly approaching, my dad faced the choice of crashing this para-plane into a wall or making an emergency landing on the roof. Naturally, he chose the roof. With one mighty heave of the controls, my dad pulled the nose up and crash landed on the roof as gracefully as possible. The fan cage was bent, one of the props broke partially off and one shingle got peeled off of the roof.

...End Flash-back...

Yes, police came. Yes, they found out what happened: that's their job. Contrary to the Paris Excuse, I mean, Paris Express, there was no criminal mischief charge filed. The first my dad had heard about any charge being filed was from the paper. I gotta say, I was dissapointed about my dad's lack of a criminal record; but, at the same time, it's just as well that he doesn't have to deal with anything legal---just people spreading gossip for about two weeks. Yeah, dad wasn't too forthcoming with info, but, it's ok... What's funny is that the best man from my parents' wedding who lives in Mississippi now actually called us up and had found out about it.

That's the end of that chapter.
