Did some cleaning earlier and found a bunch of old articles on different theoretical approaches in Archaeology. Which in turn got me thinking about theory in a more general way. Especially about Human Agency. It's so simple and so obvious, but at the same time feels so abstract.
A human being act and change the world. That's the core of it, and in many ways it really is that simple. Then how come we so seldom acknowledge how easy it is to change the world? Each and every one of our actions effect our world, change our world. Still we so easily give up, give in and claim there is nothing we can do. We argue that we are just one small human in a sea of millions, billions. We don't fight, because we claim the battle is already over before we even begun. Why is that?
Why are we so fascinated by individualism, yet so terrified of human agency? Of the power each and every one of us possess?
Why is it easier to believe in an external abstract and untouchable deity than to acknowledge our own omnipotence?
