I went up to Brock yesterday, talked with the Academic Advisor, Finance and OSAP regarding schooling in the Winter Semester and here are the results of the talks:
Academic Advisor: "Why are your history marks so low?" She asked.
"I pooch exams, specifically exams based on Lectures because I just zone out in lectures. I'm not being taught, I'm being talked to. Seminars I do much, much better in." Quoth I.
"Ah. Well, that could be abrogated slightly if you do better on your essays." Was her reply.
"Indeed," came my response.
"Now, on to courses. If you just take two courses, even if you get 80s, you won't be able to get your BA Hons. You need at least 3 at 75 or better to do that, and if they were 3rd year, that would look good. Talk with [the Driedge] on Monday at 3 to hammer out courses needed for History. Also, your Old Norse credits aren't showing as History. Get that fixed."
Finance: "You can now register for classes. By the way, you'll need to pay your full tuition by the 21st of August because you're taking less than 3.5 credits and we hate people like you."
OSAP: "You qualify for Interest Relief because your job is about as good as you can do in St. Catharines but you won't be able to cover OSAP repayments, Rent and Tuition with the meagre pay cheque you currently milk from the rapidly drying teat of your employer."
So allow me to sum up:
I need to take 3 History courses ideally at 2(alpha)90 or better and get 75% or better in them all. 2P98 (Modern Russia), 2P52 (20th C. Europe, with Dr. Vlossak *swoon*) and 2Q91 (Modern Canada) are going to be the ones I take. I need to email the head of the History Department (Dr. Schimmelpenninck) or the Dean (Dr. Hale) and get my ENGL 3P96 and 3P97 credits to count as History (at 80% and 75% respectively) and then a-way we go.
And now, I make some toast and tea before my trek to my folk's place in Kitchener at 9:05.
