Don't get used to public entries. I'm only making this one because it's about something I think is very important.

and here i thought bush might actually be a wise choice with all of kerry's flip flop voting and what not. i was actually looking forward to voting, but noooo there had to be strings attached, like me not getting an education and being killed in iraq! stupid texan... too close to mexico (jk, nothing against mexico, i may flee there if this happens)lol. my father was drafted into vietnam and that is the last time it should happen, there is enough active duty military to do that, my dad has already gone over there and i'll be damned if im forced to join the military as a piss ant private!they have enough damn pilots going through that there should be enough there. i mean hell, get officers out of their desk jobs and actually make them do some manual labor, my dad had to! there are enough ppl sitting behind desks in the military getting paid to do nothing that it's irritating... this is stupid and bush should just lighten up with his war mongaring. get the UN to kick in, thas an entire continent that SHOULD be at our disposal!

First off...it's not flip-flopping. The man changed his mind. Ever make a decision then change your mind? Yeah, happens to me all the time.

I'm pretty damn near sure you'll get an education and won't be sent off to Iraq. You are right in saying that there are plenty of troops. Bush has stated this already. He says that there is no need to re-instate the draft because of the abundance of troops and volunteers.

Abundance of troops? Surely from living by a military base, you learned that there is a shortage of people entering the military.

And volunteers? Ha. Keep telling yourself that.

it's not that i dont think we could use more ppl, but there would have to be another way then enstating a draft... being in the military for the past thirteen years, ive been enough places (including SHAPE:supreme headquarters allied powers europe) to know that there are plenty of people and nations out there. there are just those bases that dont get deployed. ft hood and gordon are ther first places to go, so when they get sent everyone boo hoos. well if there is such a shortage, why did only 2 companies leave from ft rucker? if there was such a shortage then everyone other then the flight instructors and students enrolled in the program should have left... same with any other base. unless they are training soldiers, they should be sent over... then we would have enough troops, but instead, they pick and chose and leave people behind because its not their specialty... well then make it their specialty and get people over there and yet young americans live their lives... some of us have to deal with our parents being put in the line ( ... )

Because there's more to Ft. Rucker than just flight school students and IP's. Training soldiers isn't just what bases are about. Look at Ft. Rucker's regiments and battalions and take a look at Iraq/Afghanistan requirements. In general, the situation in Iraq demands more garrison than just helicopter pilots. Considering that you were at SHAPE, it would make sense that you would see an abundence of military personnel. -Have you seen Ft. McClellan or the closed down bases in Europe due to cost-cuts and downsizing? Our military isn't big enough to fit the pants that our nation wants it to wear.

Futhermore, we're not being forced to go to Iraq (at least not now). Freedom takes sacrifice. Ask a WWII vet. that.

I don't mind at all, as long as you have something intelligent to say and can do so without being rude.

Well obviously no one is begging me to go to war so we aren't in that bad of shape.

And to personally know at least 5 people being sent to Iraq...that's no shortage either.

i wasnt trying to be anti-kerry, just saying that it's the point everyone is trying to make against him. the news is trying to come up with negatives about both candidates, so it's difficult to make up my mind... and bush just seems ignorant! itd be really nice if there was a third candidate... instead of it being like acids and bases... we need a nice moderate liberal/conservative, but noooo, that would be asking too much...lol jk

and secondly, that whole draft thing is really pissing me off! *wants to cry* my daddy is leaving for korea tuesday (2nd ID by the DMZ) for a year, and i dont want to have this looming over my head too. stupid bush, stupid congress and stupid election! *pouts and storms off to go hold a dolly and feel better, it doenst help*

My dad's staying in Korea for another 21 months. It's not Bush's fault. Military needs him there, so he goes there.

and i understand that people are needed in korea, but not because they OVER FILLED the position my dad was in at his old company!(they mistakenly sent two people to fill his slot and one for the person right above him) they're sending him to korea because there is no where else for him to go. his expertise isnt needed anywhere at the moment because they have an overabundance right now... so they are sitting him at a desk job in korea for a year when they could send him somewhere useful where they actually needed maintenance supervision...

and im sorry your dad is leaving, im not trying to say a year is worse then 21 months for a second time, but im not used to it. he's been gone during every important time of my life so far... the start of my senior year in iraq and the begining of my freshman year of college with my mother getting extrememly sick from a crippling muscle disease...

National guard and reserves being sent to fight our nation's wars? Not enough troops...

Keep it up though. I feel so damn awkward here.
