Nostalgia of familiarity

Have I ever mentioned that my father is the cutest man on the face of the planet?

Well, if I haven't, there it is. He's the cutest man on the face of the planet. Coincidentally, his birthday is tomorrow.

I'm not typing this not from the library or from a borrowed computer (BTW midget515 IS THE BEST ROOMIE EVER), but from Imshi, which he overnighted to me yesterday. BTW, Imshi is heavy. That package weighed a whopping ten pounds.

I was initially kinna wary of using her, because, well, there's a reason she's my OLD computer and why I had to get a NEW one to begin with--I mean, she's bloody well ancient, she's going to be running on six years in a few months.

But now that I've started her up and jury-rigged her AC adapter and slowly getting re-used to her keyboard ("How many keyboards can you memorize in a day?" "Very funny Allison"), and am running every virus scanner known to man, I'm remembering just how much of a good computer she really is.

She's running off of a 35-gig hardrive (good grief, what a random number), and only 10 gigs are actually in use--and really, I could probably free up four more if I wanted to take the time to sift through old files. Her memory's better than I remember it being, and once you let the CPUs drop down to a normal level after starting her, she runs pretty fast. Actually, she runs exceptionally fast for a five year old hard drive.

It just makes me remember that the only reason why I GOT Greis was because the AC connection had gotten so terribly flakey. I mean, she's literally more of a desktop now, because I'll never be able to tell for certain whether the battery is at full power or none, but... -love~-
...
Oh, and she seems to overheat a bit, too. Or maybe I've just been spoiled by a new system=.=

Ok, enough fawning over reliable, "they dont make it like they used to" equipment. I've got a ton of notes to type up and readings and assignments to print out.
(That is ONE thing I'll say for not having a computer; my productivity levels spiked to outrageous numbers...)
