BARBERY BAKERY MAKES SOUP (part 3 of a three part series)
The idea is to start a restaurant, making soups, bread, and other vegan baked goods. Ted has been talking about a vegan soup and sandwich place for a while, and I'd been talking about a coffee shop that was barber-themed for a while. So we're melding these ideas together. I can't imagine it actually happening, but it's fun to daydream about because, doesn't everyone want to quit their jobs and start their own business so they can work with their friends???
We could start it up in the storefront at the corner of our street and East Main. It's been abandoned-looking as long as we've lived here. Or probably we'd try to do it around businesses that are already thriving...
We'd get a barber-shop pole for the front, and the counter would have barber chairs. (I honestly don't know where the barber idea came from. It just popped in my head, and I started talking about it a lot before thinking through whether it was a good idea or not.)
We already are acquiring the skills of cooking for many people, and Ted and Caitlin are working on a group project to acquire a building to create a radical community space. So maybe if that project turns out successfully, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to think we could acquire a building for our restaurant. There's certainly an over-abundance of city-owned abandoned properties in this town.
And it'd be a constant local-craft fair too.
Who wants to work there with us?!!
