Wes didn't know he was holding his breath as he knelt next to Fred on the ground. Then he heard her voice speaking to Regan and realized his chest was burning. Letting out a small sob, he pulled his wife into his arms when she turned to reach for him.
"Seems too long," he told her, holding her close.
Oh, God - she was warm and breathing and alive. When he buried his face against her hair for a moment to kiss it, he could see that it was brown now, no longer streaked with the royal blue. And when he nudged her face to look into her eyes, all he saw was chocolate brown.
And when he kissed her lips, all he felt was soft warmth.
"We'll explain everything once we get back to Rupert's house," he promised her, adjusting his arms around her. He looked up at their daughter and held an arm out to her to get her to join them. "But it's because of Regan you're back. If it hadn't been for her..."
Fred started to cry when Wesley wrapped his arms around her. The last time she’d felt this was when she was dying. She clung to him and sobbed. Soon, Regan was there too and Fred clung to the both of them. She was finally back where she belonged, and with her family. “I’m so glad to be home,” she whispered

Wesley wanted to pick Fred up, but it was obvious that she wanted to stand on her own, so he helped her, his arm wrapped around her as they went over to the others. Part of him was almost scared that if he let her go, this wouldn't be real anymore. After being apart from her so long, she was back. His wife was back. He had to swallow against the knot in his throat, not wanting to break down. Not here

Being in Regan and Wesley's arms again did Fred a world of good. This was what she had missed all those months she had been away. And she didn't want it to end. But, when the car stopped in front of Rupert's estate, she had to pull herself away from them so she could get out of the car. "I think I would like to eat at the other house and have some alone time with my family," she told Evelyn. The other woman nodded and said she would bring it over soon

When Fred said that she wanted to spend time with him and Regan, Wesley almost let out a sigh of relief. They still weren't sure what effects might be left over from what had happened to her, so he rather wanted her to take it easy for now. That, and selfishly, he didn't want to share her with anyone at the moment other than their daughter. It had been too long since they had been a family together

Fred saw the look on Wesley's face when she said she knew everything. There were some things that the soul guardian hadn't told her, like why Regan and Wesley had left Los Angeles. She was sure it was because of Illyria but she couldn't be certain. But, Fred had to wonder if his reaction had to do with Knox. The soul guardian had told her Wesley had killed him, and Fred didn't blame him for his actions

Wesley watched Fred disappear so she could change and found himself holding his breath. Part of him wanted to go after her, make sure that she was still there and that he wasn't dreaming this. He looked over at Regan, who reached out and squeezed his arm gently

Fred grinned and reached up to softly stroke her husband's cheek. "It's okay, sweetie. It's to be expected. After all, she is our daughter," she said. When Regan had been born, they had discussed how much of their lives they would tell their daughter. They had decided they didn't want to hide it from her and train her on how to protect herself. "And I'm sure she knows not to do it again

Fred's touch to his face did more to sooth his worry than anything could have. Without her, he had been so afraid that he would fail Regan and had fought so hard to make sure he didn't. Even though he had thought his wife gone, he hadn't wanted to dishonor her memory by allowing something to happen to their daughter. Her touch told him more than words that in her eyes, he hadn't failed. And it meant the world to him to know that

Fred wanted to believe she'd done everything possible to stay with her family. She wanted to believe she'd fought hard enough but she couldn't help but to think of her final moments. Wesley begged her to fight but she hadn't. Instead, she left herself die. Her family had suffered because of her and she looked at Wesley, tears rolling down her cheeks

"Oh, love, no...please don't blame yourself," Wesley whispered as he ran his hand over Fred's hair as she sobbed against his shoulder, hating to see her this upset when they finally had her back. He remembered how at the time a part of him had been upset at her for leaving them behind, but then he had realized that had been his grief talking. He could never blame Fred, not after what she went through and to protect their daughter. "There's nothing to forgive you for. We all went through a hard time, but we're together again now. That's what's important. That's what will always be the most important thing

Fred looked at her husband and slowly nodded her head. She knew she had to have faith in Wesley, and had to believe everything would work out. "I know," she sniffled. It felt strange to her to be in his arms again, and it almost felt weird to be back with him and Regan again. She'd been gone for over a year and had started to think she would never see them again.
"I-I don't know if I can sleep or not. I'm afraid if I do, I'll wake up and be dead again." Fred shook her head, knowing she was being silly. "I know I shouldn't be scared but I only feel safe with you and I don't want to be clingy with you. I just..." She ran her fingers over his neck and smiled a little. He still felt the same. He was still her Wesley.
"This may...I don't...Wesley..."
Fred took a deep breath, not knowing how to say what she wanted, what she needed. "I need you. I know you probably think it's too soon but I need to feel you to make sure I'm really here." She leaned forward and gave him a slow, deep kiss. She was sure Regan was smart

They were a family again.
