America, you are now on my black list...

Negative thing about living in China is that we do not have a newspaper, so I tend to forget to check what is going on in my native country.
It was therefore quite a shock for me to read that a couple of days ago evidence was discovered that the American embassy in Norway had been monitoring Norwegian citizens without the knowledge of the government or the security police.
I was even more shocked when I read that the same kind of thing has happened since 2000 in Sweden!!

The article is in Swedish, but it is basically about the US admitting that the embassy has been monitoring "possible terrorists" outside the area belonging to the embassy.
WTF?! Outside the area belonging to your embassy you are in SWEDEN, not in the US, and you follow Swedish laws - and then you should not be doing this kind of secret monitoring of our citizens WITHOUT the knowledge of the government or our Security Police! It is a violation against our laws and the human rights - and I doubt that you would like it if our countries did that when working in our embassy in the US!

Bloody hell, pretty annoyed now.

The article also states that this is usual procedure in different countries where the US has an embassy, so not only Sweden and Norway have been monitored - but it is a bloody violation of human rights to snap pictures of people who "might be terrorists" and examine them, even spy on them, without the knowledge of the government ruling the country where you are working.

Yep, US, you are on my black list, and you have to do quite a lot to get away from there.

(and no - I do not hate all of my American friends but the government(s) that ordered this to happen)

politics, us, sweden
