It's hot!!!!

So, first real post from Shanghai :)

Today it's been hot. Really hot! Around 35 degrees Celcius, no wind whatsoever and about 60% air humidity. Really, it was like walking straight into a thick wall of warm air once you stepped outside.
Haven't been too well during these last few days since I arrived. On Thursday it was still the time-difference that got to me, but in the evening I started to feel that I was allergic to something. No idea what I'm allergic to, but it was really annoying.
Yesterday I woke up with a slight fever and lay curled up in the sofa watching the "small" TV all day. It got better during the afternoon, so I accompanied dad to the store about ½-1 kilometres away.
Have to tell you that it's extremely cheep to by food here, as long as it is not imported (then it gets quite expensive). Yesterday we bought two bags filled to the brink with food, for example noodles (I hate Swedish noodles, but these are quite different and extremely good instead), cucumber-chips (no, they do not taste good at all), two large bottles of soda etc.
The bill landed on around 120 yuan, which is about the same number in Swedish crowns, and around 12 Euros (!!!!!!!!!!!)
In Sweden you would have to pay a couple of hundreds at least...

Today I have been taking it easy, once again, but I felt a bit better. Got to the gym that is in the area and worked out a bit. Was all alone until minutes before I left ;)
In the evening/late afternoon, me and my dad went to Hongmei Road (Hongmei Lu to say it correctly). There you will find a loooooooong street filled with restaurants and bars, all kinds available, so we ate at my favourite restaurant there; Blue Frog
We have ordered from them earlier and had it sent by home delivery...
Yes, you can have home delivery here. Most restaurants are into it. There's a certain firm, Sherpa's, that is working with this. It's very simple; you log onto Sherpa's website and write what road you live on. Then you get a list of restaurants and how long the delivery-time will be from each of them. Once you've chosen your restaurant you fill in what you want to order and then you wait for about 1 hour. Piece of cake.
When there aren't too many it's not that cheep to get it delivered, though - then it's about the same price as when you eat at a restaurant in Sweden (no, no fastfood restaurants!). But most of it is the actual payment for the delivery, so if there are more of you (4 or more, I think), it gets a lot cheeper.

At Hongmei Lu there is also a Fakemarket - that's a market where they sell fake stuff (no, really?). You can buy Nike-shoes that aren't really Nike-shoes and so on. But the quality is quite bad...
It's a three-storage house and on the second floor there is the large Pearl City. A laaaaarge place with pearls only. Nothing else. Pearls, pearls, pearls. They can for example make you a necklace with the pearls you like in the right size for your neck.
My prom-jewelry were bought here; orange sea-pearls in a necklace and a pair of earrings :) They are really beautiful and here you can also pull the prize down quite a lot. I think that the one who made my jewelry said 230 yuan, but my dad got it down to around 125 ;)
So if you are in Shanghai, go to Pearl City. You can spend a looooong time there (if you like jewelry, that is)

Oh right, tonight's game between the Netherlands and Japan - everyone here walks around in orange shirts. All bars have the Dutch flag outside. Nothing related to Japan here - those of you who have read Chinese history probably know that China and Japan are life-long enemies, so here everyone wants the Netherlands to win tonight :) I have to agree with them

pearl, shanghai, shopping, jewelry, china, football
