My final grades in school-subjects
First, an introduction to the Swedish Grading System ;)
There are 4 levels of grades at the moment
IG = Means "Icke Godkänt", in English . This means you have to re-do the course. If you get this grade in one of the main subjects (Swedish, English and Math), you may have to re-take the whole year
G = Means "Godkänt", in English "passed". First grade that show that you've passed the course
VG = Means "Väl Godkänt", in English "well done". Second highest grade that show you've passed the course
MVG = Means "Mycket Väl Godkänt", in English "very well done". Highest grade possible!
Then, tha guide to the courses
There are often three levels of a course, A-C. Math also has D and E and special courses after that.
A-courses are the easiest ones and sometimes they are just repeating a lot of stuff.
B-courses take you deeper down and you have to analyse a lot more.
C-courses are even deeper, but often do not contain that much analysing as the B-courses. Instead they contain "deeper knowledge for the subject itself"
Some courses are Compulsory Courses. Everyone takes those, there's no difference between the schools or the program you're studying.
Then there are courses that belong to the program itself - Characteristic Courses. That means that every program has its own list of courses that you need to study, for example my program is a Social Science program, which means I have a lot of History, Social Science, Religion and Language. My friend studies a Science program, so she has Biology, Physics and Chemistry. My sister will start at a school called Hotel and Restaurant, so she will have a lot of cooking- and service-courses.
Then there are courses that are completely individual between the students - Individual Courses.
Courses have different lengths, too, and that is marked by the number of points you'll earn by taking the course.
50-points-courses are just one term
100-points-courses are two terms
150-points courses are three terms
200-points-courses are four terms
The number of points also represents how many hours total you will study of the subject. Thanks to that, you can have a 100-points-course during three or four terms, but have less or shorter lessons each week. Same with 50-points-courses - you can have them during two terms but with fewer or shorter lessons.
You can also do the opposite - have a 100p course during one term instead of two. That means you'll have longer or more lessons
