Prepping for T-Day (Part 1)

Nov 22, 2006 15:52

A two-pound turkey and a fifty-pound cranberry - that's Thanksgiving dinner at Three-Mile Island. ~ Johnny Carson (1925-2005)

I'm debating on whether I should zip to the store to pick up everything (except the turkey) for tomarow, or wait until Jon gets home.

My List

Turkey (wait for "the word" from Jon first)
A big 'ol bag of day-old bread from the Bakery
Russet potatoes
Whole carrots
Sweet potatoes
Gravy mix (or I could make it myself)
Cranberries (either can, or maybe I should make it homemade?)
Chips & Dip (for guests to nosh on whilst Teh Meal comes together)

Jon really wants to cook the turkey himself, I think. I personally think that it's a hell of a daunting task for me to attempt myself, as this is the first Thanksgiving I've ever hosted. Jon wants to invite his co-workers over, and hopefully tonight he'll help me get the house looking somewhat in shape for tomarrow. I can easily whip up all the side dishes so that all Jon would have to worry about is the turkey and he can entertain everyone. I don't really feel like being much of a social butterfly, so that can be Natey's job. This is going to be totally nuckin' futz, I can just feel it.

*deep breath*

Yeah, I could use the exercise, and the brief burst of solitude. Imma gonna go to the store.

Wish me luck, peeps! =)
