Happy Birthday, Aunt Joanne
Joanne Leslie Humphreys (nee Faubel)
June 26, 1945 to September 7, 1998
Joanne was my Godmother... and I still miss her so much. For some reason I'm thinking more about her this birthday than I have in the last 7. Maybe it's due to it being my "hallmark" birthday (turning 26 on the 26th), or maybe it's from the grieving process slowly working its way through my heart and mind.
*sigh* I lit a remembrance votive for her this morning, and it's still lit (sitting on the stove for safety's sake), and it will burn until it takes itself out.
I just wish that my cousins were more proactive in communication with me. It just seems so unfair that her death had to drive a wedge into the bonds I was making with my bio-mother's side of the family.
I want to waddle off to a park somewhere and cry under a huge weeping willow. But I can't be left alone ~ not yet for today. Maybe if Jon comes home from work early.
I must go for now... Mothering duties are calling.
