Posting Meme, Dec 7th. Dean and Cas, Do they have a chance? What is your headcanon for them? (SPN)
Dean and Cas and their Profound Bond, what's not to love about them? I love how the show has developed their relationship, making it clear how important they are to each other. They have amazing chemistry, and while the show plays around with it a lot, I don't think they'll ever actually go there in the romantic sense. Which I would never want them to do, because it would never be the Dean/Cas that I have in my head. And romantic relationships never turn out well on the show.
sheron finally put into words what I love so much about shipping angel!Cas and Dean. Such a powerful being, ageless, sexless, yet so in love with Dean--it goes deeper than just sex. My headcanon says that Dean is just a little awestruck that a creature like Cas would love him, because Dean doesn't think himself worthy of such love and devotion. And I think Cas's love would be a little overwhelming. Cas rebelled against heaven and his fellow angels for Dean--there's just no telling what Cas wouldn't do for him.
I think Cas is actually pretty comfortable with his feelings for Dean. He's intrigued by humans, by how downright ornery they can be. (Some more than others, and I'm looking at you, Dean). The show tells us that angels don't have emotions, then shows us something completely different--angels whose emotions are all over the place, being whiny and angry and jealous and constantly battling for power. And, of course, Castiel's obvious affection for Dean. And his sly sense of humor. So yeah, I'm not buying the whole unemotional thing. He loves Dean.
