as if i didn't have enough reason to never offer my business to Lisa Ross again, now the claim they 'refiled' for services rendered back in July was 'refiled' under the wrong provider name, hence, the insurance company refused to pay any of it ( Read more... )

Good grief! That's nonsense. Our billing was all weird there too since we x-fered to the hospital before Rach was actually born. I still insist it was an error in our favor, but still...

What else did they do wrong? Did you post about your visit? I mean, if you don't mind saying, otherwise ignore my nosiness!

There is another birthing place I saw the other day, maybe in Summerville, TN?

guess i have to start over! short version: rude girl at the desk overcharges me when i know it's not a specialist in the eyes of my insurence company. midwife galnces at the sheet of my records of my cycles for the past year (regular as clockwork!) and hands it back saying it's unnecessary and she doesn't need it. then, midwife lectures me for 45 minutes about being fat. tells me the changes i've made (giving up smoking, sodas, limiting sweets, cooking at home instead of having fast food, taking walks 3-4 times a week) are not good enough and i will likely have ill babies if i'm even able to get pregnant at all. then the physical exam, she uses a too-big speculum and ends up digging into and scraping my cervix enough to make me bleed. she then insists that i need testing for STDs as it hurt so much when she did the exam and my husband could be having an affair on the side and might have given me something. (i'd warned her before-hand that the exterior is deceiving in terms of both breadth and depth with me.) then she demanded i set up ( ... )

I think Laura found that one and showed it to me -- oh man, I was jealous. It's the type of place that I wish I could have birthed my babies in.

Ugh.

At least you got this experience out of the way before becoming pregnant, you know?

So sorry you had such a craptastic experience. :( I had a LOT of the same problems with the billing stuff. They are absolutely the worst.

*nodnod* i've thought about you several times through my own mess and felt seriously sympathetic towards you. finding all this out once there is a new baby in the house would probably have sent me over the deep end.

I'm sorry you had to go through that. I know how frustrating it is - I can't even imagine what you felt like during your appointment. :( Who did you see, if you don't mind me asking?

It was bad, but just having her home safe and sound made it a lot better. I went through a healing process after she was born that took away a lot of the anger I felt, but I won't be going back there.
