...they pull me back in

Hi.

I'm Sophie, and I'm an MMORPG-addict.

It started about eight or nine years ago when I discovered EverQuest with my brother. The idea of being able to play with people from all over the world was intriguing, and pretty soon we were both hooked and stayed up all night more times than I can count to play. It was great. It challenged my linguistic skills (as it was all in English, and I was forced to use it constantly  -though one could claim that netspeak might not be beneficiary for a teenager learning a language), it challenged my ability to think on my feet and use the right strategy, it challenged my social skills, and finally it challenged my patience since I was playing on my old, beloved 56K-modem that I still keep for sentimental reasons.

Then came high school, and I knew I had to go cold turkey if I was to ever achieve anything there. So I did. It was bloody tough, but I managed, and eventually it all faded to become just a fond memory.

Then a few moths ago, my best friend (also recovering MMORPG-addict, though hers was Dark Age of Camelot) got a hold of World of Warcraft and badgered me to come and try it. I was reluctant,  since I had sworn never to fall into that mainstream trap, but then my braincells activated, and I realized it was set in the world of Warcraft (duh, I know), the RTS that I had adored (and still do) when I was younger. Then I stopped resisting.

...

I now have a 32 pally, a 30 rogue, a 27 hunter, a 23 warlock and an 8 shaman.

...

.... I blame my so called best friend.
