Polaris, and the Weeks Ahead

Jul 12, 2009 23:17

This weekend was Polaris 23. No time for a full discussion, but in brief:

- Great to see people and hang out.
- Enjoyed many guest talks. David Hewlett, joined by David Nykl, and further joined by Kate Hewlett made for a fantastic show.
- Panel selection seemed weak and the panel rooms were, mostly, too small. Suspect attendance was not very high this year.
- Acquired a copy of Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game. Game night in August anyone?

As is always the case, socializing was very hit and miss. Very much enjoyed longer chats when I was able to manage them. Barely managed to say hello to some people and hope to find more time with them in the near future. In at least one case I only managed to wave to someone a few times.

And on to the future:

On Monday I leave Toronto to head to the east coast. I'll be at a family event in New Brunswick on Thursday, and then on to the cottage on the north shore of Nova Scotia. For a couple weeks I'll be based there, but will be traveling around a bit (Family on PEI, Tall Ships Nova Scotia Festival, possibly Cape Breton, etc.). With any luck I'll be doing a bit of photo-blogging as I go (I'll also be tweeting along the way). Then August 5th I'll be in Montreal to attend Anticipation, then back to Toronto on the 12th.

Feels odd to be running off so hastily and right after a con, but should make for a great trip.
