Late December
Here are some holiday-ish scenes from around our house.
Oops, my thumb got into this one. I think I was trying to do that trick where you cover half the flash with your finger and it didn't quite work right.
I'm not a total slacker and I did bake a ton of cookies and make this bark stuff shown above. I bought the ingredients for super cheap at Target, it was this almond bark stuff in both chocolate and white chocolate flavors and the chips are these Andes mint chip things that are sooooo good. Anyway, I had all these cute little cellophane bags leftover from a Christmas gift from a few years ago so I packed up 4 different types of cookies, creamcheese walnut, almond spritz, peanut butter blossoms and chocolate crinkles along with packets of both types of bark and put it all artfully into bags and some tins I had laying around and we mailed a package out to my parents, my husband's parents, my Dad and my Aunt and Uncle who so thoughtfully had sent us some truffles. Because of all this wedding gift rigamarole we have a ton of boxes and packing peanuts laying about but I really hope that everything isn't pulverized into smithereens by the time it gets to its recipients.
I feel so much better not being a total holiday slacker. I am usually really good about cards and everything but what with the wedding this year it all fell by the wayside. I pretty much got done with finals, went right on to the wedding, then after the wedding I slept for about a million years.
I can't wait for New Years, we got tickets to go see Girl Talk at the Bottle and we're going with a friend and her boyfriend. I am pissed because another friend's boyfriend didn't want to go and so they didn't get tickets and now its sold out and he's being an ass and it sounds like he's going to dump her and she and I had the best New Years ever last year and I am pissed at him for being a little bitch and squandering her New Years fun. Oh well. We are going to have a nice celebratory dinner here before we all go out though so they'll be here for that. I think Dan is going to make meat and I'll do a real upscale mac n' cheese with homemade bread and all sorts of good stuff. I can't wait, new Years is going to be really fun this year!
