The training session went really well last night! My trainer was really nice, is a full-time PE student, has 2 personal training certifications including certifications to teach all sorts of classes. We dove right in and he strapped some boxing gloves on me and I did some boxing which was so much fun, I tried to let all my aggressions out and hit as hard as I could while maintaining a good stance.
Then we moved on to the floor and did some exercises with 5 lb. dumbbells on a stability ball, then some stuff on the free motion machine with the cables and ended up with some core exercised on the floor and then stretching. It doesn't sound like much but we were doing all the weights on a really slow count which made me really feel the burn. I'm also starting off with light weights that aren't that hard to lift and he'll gradually build me up. I was so happy and the hour flew right by. I am meeting him again on Wednesday and at that point, after doing two opposing workouts, he'll let me go and do it on my own for two weeks and then we'll meet again and change it up.
I can tell already that this is going to be awesome for me. He even made a comment that we'll have 15 lbs. off me in no time, like it was absolutely nothing. That's fine with me, I am willing to work hard for this - I feel already like my workouts have so much purpose and its getting me fired up to go to the gym because I want to show him I can do it, I can work hard at my goals.
Dan and I also purchased a whole bunch of nutritional stuff. We got some protein powder and I was instructed to have one scoop a day at either lunch or dinner in some soy milk. I tried it last night and it was good! We got the chocolate one so I think that had something to do with it. We also got talked into getting some glutamine powder to mix in the shakes and some additional supplements. I am going to start out taking one supplement a day and see how that goes. I think the protein shakes are a good idea for me because being vegetarian, I try to get all my protein but I'm sure I'm falling short and they explained that if you're not getting enough protein while doing all the intense lifting I'm going to be doing, then your muscles start eating themselves and that's no good. Not to mention that it sounds gross and I want to build muscle mass, not lose muscle!
All in all a good night, not even all that sore this morning, a little in the biceps and trapezius muscles in my back but a good sore and I think I'll be ready to do it all again tomorrow.
