i'm early today, and with corrine. i went to the office like normal, but corrine and ing came and found me at like 11. i put pictures on my memory stick (that aren't uploading to photobucket at all, and i'm pissed) and then set off for the day, essentially. we went philo's pharmacy shop, and philo is a beautiful ghanian woman (beautiful in the njambe-goddess way) who is married to a dutchman. so, she invited all of us to dinner and "happy hour" tonight at their house, and i think we're doing that at like 6 tonight.
so, we went to aggie's and to the girls' guest house, and there we met noah (aggie's brother?) and a german man. noah and the german were friends, and noah just happened to be at the guest house, where the girls knew him and came upon him and brought aggie there. aggie didn't know he was here at all, so it was weird and like everyone knew each other, because apparently aggie and the german man are friends as well. so weird..but then we visited the school (actually we visited it briefly before going back to the guest house), and brought them presents from holland. i didn't bring anything, and i felt bad, but i had nothing to give really. and so all the kids attacked us and grabbed our hands and arms and legs and things, being soo happy to see us all. and then they had prepared these awesome poems and plays and songs and stuff for ing and corrine, and so i got to witness them. it was so great--here's an example of one of their poems:
"mosquitoes! mosquitoes! mosquitoes!
mosquitoes should be avoided because they are the main cause of malaria."
and that would be the end of the poem..haha..they were so great. and the songs were really good, and they had a play about two men fighting over bread, and in the end, the man who came to broke up the fight ate all the bread. it was really cute and they freaked out about things like frisbees and bubbles, and it made me really happy that corrine and ing are doing all this school and orphanage stuff, and that somehow i am sucked into it and implicated in all of it. i'd rather be hanging out with tons of cute little ghanian kids than sitting in an office doing nothing, so that's what i did today.
after that, corrine and i came here. i was trying to update photos, but it's not working, and that's not cool. so anyway..i guess the plan is that tonight we are going to the dutchman's house, and then tomorrow i go to accra with the girls. i thought we were just going for a day, but apparently we're going for the whole weekend, haha, so i'll be having another vacation, it looks like. anyway..it should be a ton of fun, and i'm really glad that i've been adopted by my "sisters" and by aggie. i see sogakope, and ghana, completely different now that i am able to do cool stuff and feel like it's okay to be white and like ghanians actually do like me (aggie is a great mom). so yeah..this trip has totally done a 180 thanks to the Dutch girls, and i love them for it. i don't know when i'll be able to make another update since we'll be in accra, but know that i am having a blast.
love you all, talk to you soon :)
